Meet Kiera
I have been practicing under the dedicated and watchful eyes of my own Ashtanga Yoga teachers for 7 years , Authorized teachers Luke Jordan and Sonja Radvila who both encourage, support and inspire me .
My Ashtanga Led & Mysore style classes are suitable for all levels of practice . I am here to share with you my love and sheer joy in this ancient system , to adjust and support and to hold the space in which you can learn .
I am a fully trained and qualified Hatha Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist. I teach Ashtanga and am currently studying with Shiva Rea in California as a Prana Flow T/T.
I teach Pre-Natal, Post-Natal Yoga, Mum and Baby Yoga, Baby Massage, Chair Yoga, Laughter Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Yoga for Sports, Corporate Yoga and Yoga in the Park. I am available for Private Classes and groups (large or small).
Yoga Practises
Ashtanga yoga is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs.
Sanskrit “Ashta + anga” is Ashtanga. “Ashta” means Eight and “Anga” is limbs so it means Eight Limb path, ashtanga yoga is based on Yoga Philosophy of Patanjali. The asanas, Pranayamas or the dharana which we have studied earlier or the yam and niyam are based on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
The Mysore style of yoga asana practice is a particular way of teaching yoga within the Ashtanga Yoga tradition as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the southern Indian city of Mysore. … In Mysore style students learn the fixed order of asanas combining movement with free breathing with sound.
Vinyasa, also called flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together, is one of the most popular contemporary styles of yoga. It’s a broad classification that encompasses many different types of yoga, including Ashtanga and power yoga.
In contemporary yoga parlance, vinyasa stands in opposition to hatha. Hatha classes tend to focus on one pose at a time with rest in between. In contrast, flow classes string poses together to make a sequence. The sequence may be fixed, as in Ashtanga in which the poses are always done in the same order, but most of the time vinyasa teachers have the discretion to arrange the progression of poses in their own ways.
In vinyasa yoga, each movement is synchronized to a breath. The breath is given primacy, acting as an anchor as you move from one pose to the next. A cat-cow stretch is an example of a very simple vinyasa. The spine is arched on an inhale and rounded on an exhale. A sun salutation sequence is a more complex vinyasa. Each movement in the series is cued by an inhalation or an exhalation of the breath.
In my vinyasa Flow classes you will build strength and stability suppleness and flexibility.
